Aneesh Raman on how companies should manage talent

A new campaign encourages employers to hire those Skilled Through Alternative Routes
-

What can help people without college degrees access opportunity? Tearing the paper ceiling. Companies can create opportunity for STARs, people Skilled Through Alternative Routes by eliminating the need for a college degree. A new campaign from Opportunity@Work and the Ad Council encourages companies to hire from this talent pool.

Aneesh Raman is head of The Opportunity Project with LinkedIn – an effort to help people access economic opportunity in new and different ways with a focus on skills-based hiring.

Raman says the conversation should be about how employers hire. “Every day on LinkedIn, people come looking for jobs and recruiters come looking for applicants. So, a big part of our role is to create some transparency around the labor market, make it possible for everyone to know what it takes to get a job, what skills you need, what courses you can take to get those skills. And then really how we can match talent and opportunity more effectively and more equitably.”
