Jobless claims were higher than expected for the week ending November 14. Numbers came in at 742,000, an increase of 31,000 from the previous week. This represents the first increase in claims in five weeks.

From New Hampshire: New Hampshire Union Leader reports a biomedical manufacturer is seeking employees who can learn on the job.

From New York: WNBF reports the state has launched a new online training portal to help unemployed and underemployed people learn new skills and earn credentials.

From Rhode Island: The Providence Journal reports Back to Work RI will train unemployed workers for jobs that local companies have pledged to fill.
