Apprenticeships are challenging the workforce status quo, according to Sophie Ruddock, VP and GM North America, Multiverse.

She says Multiverse is building an alternative to college and corporate training. “We do that by finding very high-potential individuals without a four-year college degree, assess for grit, not grades and match them to roles at some of the best companies in the world,” says Ruddock.

WorkingNation sat down with Ruddock at the ASU+GSV Summit in San Diego.

“Multiverse is focused on tackling the digital and tech skills gap because it’s the area where we have built the expertise, where we have seen we can add demonstrable value,” says Ruddock. Apprenticeships are for in-demand roles including those in software engineering, data analytics, and digital businesses.

“We know that talent is everywhere and opportunity is not,” says Ruddock – noting that some of Multiverse’s apprentices come to the organization via social media.
