From Alabama: News 4 reports the Alabama Tourism Department is rolling out training programs to the central and southern parts of the state to strengthen the tourism workforce.

From Illinois: WREX reports a health care program in Rockford that focuses on rural, underserved areas has received funds to train high school and college students interested in health care careers.  

From Pennsylvania: NorthcentralPA.com reports a free four-week training program – Building Green Futures – will teach the skills needed to work in the energy efficiency and weatherization workforce

From Puerto Rico: AP News reports the National Science Foundation has decided not to rebuild a telescope in the mountain town of Arecibo but, instead, issued a solicitation for the creation of an center at the site to promote science, technology, engineering, and math.

From Utah: Utah State TODAY reports USU Extension has received funds to train rural residents to work remotely as technology sales professionals.
