Ivan Denton on the investment in military talent

Warrior Community Integration Symposium: Thought leaders discuss support services and initiatives in the workforce for veterans and military spouses

Employers should give serious consideration to hiring veterans, noting the significant funds spent by the U.S. government on training and development, says Ivan Denton, director of Office of National Programs, U.S. Department of Labor.

WorkingNation sat down with Denton in Atlanta at the Warrior Community Integration Symposium – an annual convening of veteran-serving organizations hosted by America’s Warrior Partnership.

Denton says the DOD’s SkillBridge program is highly beneficial to exiting military members. “It’s an employment skills training program where those that serve – their last 180 days are not only encouraged, but commanders authorize them to spend two to four months with a U.S. employer and then that employer 90% of the time hires them.”
