As the future of work continues to change, employees need to learn new skills, according to Jill Buban, vice president and general manager, EdAssist Solutions, a division of Bright Horizons.

EdAssist Solutions provides workforce education solutions to large companies including Bank of America and T-Mobile. Buban says 42% of EdAssist’s clients are in health care, but other sectors include aerospace, finance, and communication.

WorkingNation sat down with Buban at SXSW EDU in Austin.

“We work really one-on-one collaboratively with each one of our clients to understand their workforce needs, but also to understand what the goals of those employees might be so that we can match them to that educational opportunity that’s right for both them and for the company,” says Buban.

She adds that employers are indicating a greater sense of social responsibility and “the care and feeding of their employees.”

“They are recognizing that they can upskill their talent, get them into new roles, or the roles of the future of their workforce much more easily than trying to attract new talent.”
