Consuelo Chaneco has worked tirelessly for decades, running her own business, supporting her family. Chaneco has worked as a licensed building contractor and now, at age 76, she’s a project manager.

When the pandemic struck, Chaneco’s business slowed down and she needed assistance.

Bet Tzedek is a nonprofit law firm that provides free services to low-income individuals by referring them to local law firms which take on the cases pro bono.

Yousuf Dhamee of Paul Hastings LLP says his law firm was asked to work with Chaneco and helped her obtain two rounds of PPP funding. Without the aid of Bet Tzedek and Paul Hastings, Chaneco says she would not have been able to save her business.

Bet Tzedek recently awarded the Rose L. Schiff Commitment to Justice Award to Paul Hastings for its efforts and contributions. This award was established in 1999 by Dahlia and Art Bilger, founder and CEO of WorkingNation, in honor of his late grandmother.
