Ellen Hughes-Cromwick

“We’ve seen double-digit growth in clean energy investment, and it means that it’s going to be a job creator,” notes Ellen Hughes-Cromwick, senior resident fellow at Third Way Climate and Energy Program.

She says the time to act is now with the development of more skills training and more apprenticeships. “We need workforce development.”

Hughes-Cromwick says green jobs investment is happening all over the country and points out within the “entire supply chain for electric vehicles there are really good-paying union jobs.

“We have other mechanisms that are now in place to make sure that other labor unions, other organizations have the resources they need in order to train and upskill workers for these clean energy jobs.”

She adds, “The Inflation Reduction Act did pay attention to providing funds for companies that are really attentive to disadvantaged communities and energy-related communities.

Citing a power plant in southwest Michigan, Hughes-Cromwick says, “They conducted a community benefits plan to show how the reopening of this plant will not only create jobs in the community, but lower electricity costs and help create a much better environment for the residents in that region.”

Ardi is currently the Managing Director and Founder of Corporate Anthropology Advisors, LLC, a consulting company that provides human capital advisory and innovative solutions to companies building value through people. Corporate Anthropology works with organizations, their cultures, the way they grow and develop, and the people who are responsible for forming their communities of work.

Prior to her position at Corporate Anthropology Advisors, Ardi served as a Partner/Managing Director at the private equity firms CCMP Capital and JPMorgan Partners. She was a partner at Flatiron Partners, a venture capital firm working with early state companies where she pioneered the human capital role within an investment portfolio.

Ardi holds a BS from the State University of New York at Buffalo as well as a Masters degree and PhD from Boston College. She started her career as professor at the Graduate Center at Fordham University in New York.
