Siemens USA CEO Barbara Humpton discusses the transformation of the manufacturing industry from more mechanical, or analog, jobs to digital and the need for skills training at the Milken Global Conference 2019.

“Someone who previously could have gotten a high school diploma and come straight to work in our factory now would really benefit from a community college class in mechatronics, so they learn how data and digital tools are going to be used in the manufacturing environment,” she tells us.

Barbara also spoke with us about how Siemens USA is upskilling their employees. Watch below.

WorkingNation was on the ground at Milken Global Conference 2019 where some of the most powerful people in business, government, healthcare, and entertainment have gathered to discuss and debate how the world is being disrupted by economic and social change and what to do about it. The goal of the talk at the conference is how to drive shared prosperity.

While there, we documented all things future of work on Twitter at #WorkingNationOverheard and in interviews at our pop-up studio (watch our playlist below).
