Laura Schmiegel on supporting military spouses

Warrior Community Integration Symposium: Thought leaders discuss support services and initiatives in the workforce for veterans and military spouses
-

The military is motivated to support military spouses, according to Laura Schmiegel, senior VP of strategic partnerships at Orion Talent. She notes, “It’s very much a collaboration and really what’s required. There’s no magic bullet for this problem, so it requires everybody working together.”

WorkingNation sat down with Schmiegel in Atlanta at the Warrior Community Integration Symposium – an annual convening of veteran-serving organizations hosted by America’s Warrior Partnership.

“The Department of Defense has a vested interest in helping spouses find and maintain work because they want to retain more military families. obviously. They’ve created a whole department, SECO. It stands for Spouse Education and Career Opportunities. They have a website that helps spouses find jobs,” says Schmiegel.
