The educational ecosystem needs to respect the dignity of all learners, according to Ryan Stowers, executive director, CKF. He explains, “There are barriers in the way that are preventing people from reaching their potential. Our philanthropy is focused on understanding and removing those barriers.”

WorkingNation sat down with Stowers at the ASU+GSV Summit in San Diego.

Stowers says, “We fund research that helps us better understand the issues that these individuals are facing. We also fund entrepreneurs that are coming up with bottom-up solutions to help remove some of these barriers,” says Stowers.

He continues, “In the space of education, how can we remove the barriers that the existing system has placed in the way of learners? That’s a whole host of different challenges and opportunities for entrepreneurs to get engaged in. We’re really trying to catalyze that entrepreneurial activity and help those solution providers come up with a better way.”
