“We through our Ares in Motion, or our AIM program, engage our firm’s team members in giving back to the communities where we do business as a corporation around the world,” says Michelle Armstrong, head of philanthropy, Ares Management, LLC.

WorkingNation sat down with Armstrong at JFF Horizons in New Orleans.

She says, “In particular, we are very much committed to not only service-based volunteerism, but also skills-based volunteerism, which allows employees to leverage their expertise and to apply that in a meaningful way to nonprofits that are seeking support, not just in terms of fiscal support, but also in terms of expertise that our firm’s people can help add to their work.”

Armstrong continues, “We are looking at workforce development, not so much through the lens of ‘how can we help others outside of Ares achieve that goal,’ but how do we support the people within our organization to be able to upskill and to strengthen their own capabilities so that they can grow professionally and personally.”
