SXSW EDU 2024: Pathways into oil and gas

Rashad Delph, head of talent acquisition for Chevron, joined WorkingNation to share his thoughts on the various ways to access employment with the company

There are multiple pathways to land a job at Chevron, says Rashad Delph, head of talent acquisition for the company.

Delph joined WorkingNation’s editor-in-chief Ramona Schindelheim for WorkingNation Overheard at SXSW EDU 2024 in Austin.

He says “We have a multitude of ways of how we find talent. It may be looking at our strategic or core schools in which we go to find talent. We also look at very diverse programs, as well. But we also look at pathway schools. So, it may be two-year programs that lead to four-year schools. We look at apprenticeship programs, as well.”

Delph adds that as technology changes, Chevron is learning, too. “It’s changing daily. From our methodology of how we’re working, if it’s working from an agile mindset.

“People think of technology, and we have as much technology as the tech companies now. We’re looking at AI technology within the organization. It’s not to augment any work, but it’s really to help us put strategies together for us to look at how we create efficiencies in the work that we do within the organization.”
