‘The American Dream is being redefined right now’

WorkingNation Founder & CEO Art Bilger discusses the importance of telling stories about the future of work

When Art Bilger founded WorkingNation is 2016 he had a very specific goal in mind: to educate the public about the changing nature of work caused by advancing technology, longevity, and globalization, and highlighting solutions to workforce issues resulting from these changes.

Through storytelling – articles, videos, podcasts, and town halls – Bilger hopes to offer solutions in order to put people on the road to family-sustaining careers in fast-growing industries.

“The American dream is being redefined right now,” says Bilger. “I do believe we can get back on track through the education of where the opportunities will be. It’s not just about the bottom 20%, it’s about the heart of America.”

In May 2023, Bilger was awarded the Ellis Island Medal of Honor, given to those who uphold the spirit of the American Dream. Though he’s experienced immense success throughout his life, he says WorkingNation may be his greatest legacy.

Bilger recently spoke about his nonprofit mission on a special edition of LA Stories Revisited with Giselle Fernandez on Spectrum News 1.
