Donny Daughenbaugh is an outspoken advocate for veteran education and urges other veterans to take full advantage of their benefits. Here, he shares with us a solution that helps veterans and their spouses and caregivers who have to leave work for medical care.

Donny is Vice President Field Operations for The Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes. He began with the Coalition as a volunteer, helping to provide outreach to wounded veterans that were unaware of the services offered. His volunteer work led him to a position within the Coalition’s work from home program, now called the Heroes Thanking Heroes program.

Donny was able to learn early on the importance of a personal connection with the donors that make the Coalition’s programs possible.

His areas of responsibility include from outreach at VA hospitals, immediate peer to peer support and the ability to address the less demanding financial needs of wounded veterans.

Organized by America’s Warrior Partnership, the Warrior Community Integration Symposium is an opportunity to share best practices, find innovative solutions, and form new collaborative partnerships to better help the veterans in their communities address the work challenges they sometimes encounter when making the transition to civilian life.

WorkingNation set up its cameras at the Symposium and interviewed the speakers and attendees about the important issue of helping veterans deal with workforce challenges. You can follow the conversation on our social media under the hashtag #WorkingNationOverheard.
